Editorial Standards
What we do before a number goes on the page, and what happens when one of them turns out to be wrong.

Sourcing
Every numerical claim on this site comes from a document we opened. In order of preference:
- Regulators and legislation. The Gambling Commission’s remote gambling and software technical standards, statutory instruments, and official government announcements.
- Manufacturers and operators, on their own pages. A slot’s return-to-player percentage is taken from the studio that built it, not from a review site repeating it.
- Published mathematical analysis. Combinatorial results, house-edge tables and probability appendices, where the derivation is shown or can be reproduced.
- Reference works. Used for historical dates and for context, and cited as such.
Each article carries its own source list, with the URL and the date we checked it. If a figure has no source we could open, it does not go on the page.
Checking
Arithmetic that we present as worked — expected value calculations, hourly cost tables, book percentages — is computed rather than recalled, and the inputs are stated so a reader can redo it. Where a published figure and our own arithmetic disagree, we say which is which.
Where two sources conflict, we report the conflict. The origins of baccarat and the details of the 1913 Monte Carlo run are both genuinely disputed, and a site that resolves such disputes silently is guessing on the reader’s behalf.
Figures go stale
Regulations change, helplines change numbers, and operators redeploy games at different return-to-player settings. Every source carries the date it was checked so a reader can judge how old a claim is.
A concrete example of why this matters: in January 2026 the National Council on Problem Gambling adopted 1-800-MY-RESET as its national helpline number, after a New Jersey court ruled that operating rights to 1-800-GAMBLER reverted to the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey. A great many sites still print the old attribution. We print the current one, and we will keep checking it.
Corrections
When we find an error, or a reader finds one for us, we correct it and note the correction on the page with the date. We do not silently rewrite published figures. Send corrections to info@belmond.click with the page, the claim and a source we can check.
Independence
Belmond takes no money from the gambling industry. Specifically:
- No affiliate links, tracking links, referral codes or revenue share.
- No sponsored posts, paid placements, link insertions or guest posts.
- No advertising sold to gambling operators.
- No free play, bonuses, comps or hospitality accepted from any operator.
- No commercial relationship of any kind with a gambling business.
We name commercial products — slot titles, game studios — only when citing a specific figure those companies publish, and naming them is a citation, not an endorsement. We do not rank operators and we do not review gambling sites.
What we will not publish
- Systems and tips. No staking systems presented as profitable, no predictions, no picks. Every game we cover has a negative expected value for the player and every article says so where it is relevant.
- Invented credentials. No named authors, no claimed qualifications, no founding dates, no awards, no client lists.
- Invented social proof. No testimonials, no reviews, no ratings, no user counts, no stock-photo faces presented as readers or staff.
- Urgency devices. No countdown timers, no scarcity claims, no live-activity feeds.
Bylines
Articles are published under the masthead rather than under individual names. This is a deliberate choice: we would rather publish nothing about who wrote a piece than publish a name and a biography a reader cannot verify. It also means the standards on this page, rather than an author’s reputation, are what a piece rests on.
Images
Every photograph and diagram on this site is a file downloaded from Wikimedia Commons and served from our own domain — nothing is hotlinked. Each carries a credit line naming the photographer or artist, the licence, and a link to the source page. Where a licence requires attribution, the credit is the attribution.
Artificial intelligence
Tools may assist with drafting and formatting. No figure, source, date or quotation on this site is taken from a model’s recollection: every one of them is checked against the document it is attributed to before publication. Where a claim could not be verified against a source, it was removed rather than softened.
Legal position
Belmond is an informational publication. It is not a gambling operator, holds no gambling licence, accepts no wagers and processes no gambling transactions. Nothing on this site is gambling advice, legal advice or financial advice. See the disclaimer for the full statement.
